EDUCATION

Silvia Luzzati received her Laurea Degree in Physics from the University of Milan in 1981. After her Degree, she has spent two years in Dr. M. Adam group in Laboratoire Léon Brillouin, CEA Saclay, France and two year in Professor G. Allegra group at the Dept. of Chemistry of the Politecnico of Milan. In this period her research activity was primarily related to critical phenomena and light scattering spectroscopy of polymer solutions. In 1986 she has joined ISMAC-CNR, where she is actually covering the position of Senior Researcher. She is a member of an interdisciplinary research group working in the field of poly-conjugated materials.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY

She is an expert of the characterisation of conjugated materials by optical, vibrational and photo-excitation spectroscopies and their application in optoelectronic devices. She has published in this field more than 100 peer review articles (1950 citations, H index 26). In the last fifteen years her research interests have been mainly focused in the development of new photo-active materials for organic solar cells. She coordinates the research activities on organic solar cells assembly and photovoltaic characterization in ISMAC-CNR. She has been the local coordinator of European and Italian Research projects in this field. Since 2008 she is holding research grants from ENI spa in the field of polymer-based bulk heterojunction solar cells.
