Profile

Luca La Notte graduated in Materials Science and Technologies at "Aldo Moro" University of Bari in 2009. His thesis work on a-Si/c-Si heterojunction solar cells was performed within an internship at ENEA Research Centre of Portici and CNR-IMIP Institute of Bari. From January 2010 to January 2011 he worked at ENEA Research Centre of Portici on design, realization and characterization of optical filters, mirrors and antireflective coatings. In June 2015 he got the PhD in "Microelectronics and Telecommunications Engineering" at University of Rome Tor Vergata. His research topic was the scaling-up of polymer solar cells. During the PhD period, he was visiting student at IMEC (Leuven) working on the patterning methods in Organic Photovoltaics. Since July 2015 he is a post-doc at CHOSE.

Research Activity

Luca La Notte is working on the scale-up of bulk-heterojunction polymer solar cells, under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Reale. In the specific, his activity is focused on the implementation of printing and coating techniques in the fabrication of large-area modules on rigid and flexible substrate by using industry-compatible solvents. The research activity has also been focused on the ITO-free topic through the introduction of CVD graphene and on innovative top electrodes based on conductive cellulose. His recent interest has been moved to the employment of fullerene-free active layers in Organic Photovoltaics. He has also developed skills in printable thermoelectric materials (inorganic and organic composites) and organic photodetectors.
